Wonderful World Jazz Foundation is one and only Louis Armstrong Fan Club in Japan.
Louis Armstrong’s boyhood trouble shooting gun and getting arrested gave us hint,He was sent to reform school called Waif’s Home, where he learned to play trumpet.
,,,,,Satchmo got a Horn instead of Gun.
Horns for Guns !
Since 1994, Horns for Guns,,,,has been our activity’s Slogan.
Wonderful World Jazz Foundation started to present horns to children of New Orleans, “Satchmo’s great grandsons and daughters so to speak , who are often surrounded by danger of Guns and Drugs.

Louis Armstrong was born in the poorest slum area of New Orleans 1901.
He was arrested and sent to reform school
called Waif’s Home, where he learned to play trumpet.
Rich musical tradition of New Orleans’neighborhood and experience at Waif’s Home lead him to
glorious life as World’s Greatest King of Jazz.

Also after Katrina we nsent many instruments and donation over $100,000 to pro musicians, schools and music progarams..

Since 1994, Wonderful World Jazz Foundation has sent over 730 musical instruments to children of New Orleans----Satchmo’s Grandsons and daughters, with help of Nippon Nippon Express, United Airlines, and Marubeni Corp.
Global Corporation’s instrument repair school gave us free repair of broken instruments.

We all have a dream to see many more "little Louis"
coming out from Home of Jazz,
and we with all the Japanese Jazz Fans want to say thank you to Satchmo, New Orleans and USA, for giving the whole World such a wonderful present called JAZZ!!
Instruments
Instruments, such as trumpet, clarinet,trombone, sax,tuba, drum, guitar,violin,,,,,,were sent from all over Japan, from Jazz fans, musicians, all kind of people who used to play instruments but does not play any more, with horns laying up on the closet.
Often Japanese schools, elementary schools, junior high, high schools, who want to help  children of Birth place of Jazz,sent us cast away instruments, which were repaired by young students of Global Corporation instrument Repair School.
 

Yoshio(CEO) and Keiko Toyama
Lived in New Orleans 1968-73 and learned jazz from old timers. Want to give back to the city,,,,,.
